That explains it

Well this explains how Brokeback Mountain lost for Best Picture (couresy Towleroad).
Also, the USA Today What You Didn't See At the Oscars.
It is no longer June.

Not to spoil the buzz, but many people I talked to said that Crash was actually better.
Then again, I didn't see ANY of the nominees. So don't trust me.
No, no, no, no, no. I saw ALL of the nominees (as I do every year) and while Crash was a good movie, it was no Brokeback. In adidtion to being a better movie on several merits, Brokeback is also a more historically significant film, and one that is much more deserving of being admitted into the cinematic cannon that is the Academy Award Best Pictures.
I'd argue that Crash was actually a terrible movie. It beats you over the head with the "Look! I have a message!" stick. Plus, Sandra Bullock and Brendan Fraser can't act their way out of a paper bag when it comes to drama. When Ludacris is the best actor in a film, you're in trouble. I wanted to walk out of the theatre for the first half an hour.
